Aye... It's already the middle of August. And I saw 'Halloween' candy out on the store shelves today.
Things are getting a little strange.
What was that again about 'rocking'? Hmm.

I thought so. Therefore I see.
A thought from what I see... By the behavior of colonizing wasps, bees, and ants you might easily think they were psychic. Sometimes they'll come together in a group and then pause, as if all of them were sharing a thought.
Fun stuff from our natural environment.

My point is what if all of 'this' was fake? What if, what your seeing is how they want you to see and perceive this reality to be.
If you spent your whole life in a virtual reality with your eyes being the only visual cue for your brain to 'see' the outside world, than you will believe everything your seeing right? as many do now.... they have no reason to question the world around them...
But on some level, call it perception, I think you would perceive with your mind that all is not what your being shown, as it really is... Yes Polly, you were told ''that the eye sees things for how they actually are and it's the brain that tricks the mind into what we see but this was from a person who probably never questioned what they are seeing and why they were seeing it.
in short maybe I should have said: Don't see with your eye, perceive with your mind
and left it at that.

Oh yeah, I certainly understand your point of view and agree with you, Peter!
Bear mind, this point of view was shared with us as art students in a drawing class 'perspective' and mainly applies to seeing objects in front of you, however that thought can have elasticity and can be applied to Life to some degree. It's funny, one could be working on a drawing or painting for a long time and think everything is fine with it and be really pleased with it - as in dead-set 'it's perfect the way it is' ... but if one works in the fashion of never stepping away and gaining a new perspective and or even better yet using a mirror, which points out all the flaws immediately ... one will never 'see' that it's indeed not perfect. I find what my professor shared with us interesting and can be applied literally and figuratively to Life as well .... especially knowing that 'Seeing' is a vast and multi-faceted dimension ... which includes perception.
Your thought reminded me of his .... and I believe he has questioned it ... considering he taught perspective drawing ... the subject alone naturely engages the mind to 'see' on many levels.
Anyhoo ... this is would make a great thread topic - How We See!!

There is a difference between seeing and perceiving. Seeing is observing, without judgement or agenda. Perception is what you feel about something and this would be based on personal experiences, previous observations and where you are in life.
Just my tuppence worth.
Later Edit: Its nice to see MW discussing topics it was originally created for once again. Been a while.
