Don't mention it Michael. I'm glad my ramblings made some sense! No small feat as my brainbox is a bit fried today (I was saying on twitter how I managed to put both contact lenses in the same eye this morning - that will give an indication! )

Oh it was quite funny actually. It was a not-so-subtle indication that I am just not a morning person!

Michael, she was referring to a state of mind, not the suffering that comes from physical malady. That we all face hardships and tribulations that we can either overcome emotionally or let it eat us alive. I was equating it to humanity as a whole and how we seem hellbent on judging ourselves to the point where existence is a moot point as your original post indicates. I see that as the single biggest obstacle to changing the human condition.

The last time she said this was on her deathbed....in massive pain from the cancer that riddled her body.

My apologies if it offended you. It wasnt meant that way.

Jay, my friend I am so very sorry I gave you such an impression. I was by no means offended. And in fact felt the wisdom in your post. I only sought to better understand it's depth. Please forgive my ignorance and apparent lack of compassion. I am truly sorry.
Your mother was a very wise and strong woman. I see that your wisdom and strength are at least in part a nutured gift.
I am truly humble in your sharing. You are a very amazing human being my friend.

      Lightbulb

Obviously clarity of expressed thought isn't always as clear as we ourselves think it to be when we post. A situation that in all truth cannot be rectified over night or indefinately.
However, through continued open communication we can strive for such a goal.
None of us should ever feel uncomfortable expressing a desire for greater clarity and understanding.
The song by Pink Floyd from "The Division Bell" comes to mind, "Keep Talking".
