Over this passed weekend I sat down and watched the (contemporary) "Clash Of The Titans" movie a second time since purchasing it when it was first released on DVD. I actually enjoyed it more the second time as I caught details that were overlooked the first time around.
I would recommend that if you enjoy action/adventure films that you (the reader) check it out. It's worth renting if not purchasing it.

So of the most moving films I lately watched are sci-fi

Sunshine (love it so much first time watching it in 2007 was some of the strongest experiences in my life)

      and

Moon......... this is such an interesting art piece. so much sadness, surprise and mystery. a real movie for people loving mysterious wisdom. full of loneliness and emotions

I do want to see this because Mads Mikkelsen is in it .....

Ilias ... I'll have to check out the films you mentioned, they both sound really interesting!

[A much much later edit] ... okay saw 'Clash of the Titans' ... and I must say it was good and I enjoyed it very much. Thanks Michael for the recommendation!

Thanks for this post! I have been anxious for Thor since it started filming. Among other things, Thor has always been my favourite of the Norse gods. And yes, I love the previous television and Marvel comic-book incarnations. The film does not open here until next weekend, so I envy you having seen it!

I too am looking forward to "Thor" being released. If I remember corectly, it's not schedule for a theater/cinema release here in the US until the 6th of May. I already know it's one I would pick up on DVD.

Just watched 127 Hours, A true story about a mountain climber who becomes trapped under a boulder while canyoneering alone near Utah. I dont know what I was expecting but it is one of the best movies I have seen in a while. Great acting by James Franco who plays Arron Ralston. breathtaking visuals, a great true story, and a wonderful soundtrack. Well worth a watch.

Some of my favorite films (in no particular order) that I would very much like to share are:

1.) Ondine--story of an irish fisherman who fishes a women (what his daughter believes to be a selke, or water nymph) out of a lake. The ensuing mysteries and love story are captivating.
2.) My name is Khan--the story of an autistic, muslim Indian who is on a quest during the aftermath of 9/11 to tell the president that "I am not a terrorist." His quest is not only personal, but also spiritual.
3.) In Bruges--gangster movie following the story of two hit-men as they hide out in the Belgian city of Bruges as they await orders from their boss.
      4.) The Fountain--spiritual movie centering on Meso-american culture/religion.
5.) Downfall--depiction of Hitler's last hours in his bunker as told by one of his secretaries.
6.) Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail--you all should know this one :]
7.) The Troll Hunter--a mocumentary style Norwegian film following the footage of three college students reporting on mysterious bear killings in the area and the man they suspect to be the culprit. They soon find themselves filming more than they had believed to be true.
8.) The Matrix (trilogy)--you all should know this one as well, perhaps. :]
9.) Tim Burton's The Corpse Bride--animation film following the story of Victor Van Dort and his accidental marriage to a "living" corpse.
10.) Gladiator--The story of Maximus Decimus Meridius' fall from Roman general to an enslaved gladiator and his fight for freedom.
11.) Sunshine--following a group of astronauts on their flight towards the dying sun to "blast it" back into life.
12.) Moon--the story of an astronaut and the startling revelations of his life on the moon.

"Man is a mystery. It needs to be unravelled; and if you spend your whole life unravelling it, don't say you've wasted time. I am studying that mystery because I want to be a human being." -Fyodor Dostoevsky.

I recently watched "Peaceful Warrior" which was actually a very good adaptation of the book. It was a bit slow to get going perhaps, but it was well done, well-acted, inspirational and filled with timeless wisdom (I remembered some of the great nuggets from the book: "there are no ordinary moments" and "sometimes we have to get out of our minds to come to our senses") I highly recommend it, and think everyone on here would probably enjoy it.

I also watched "Eat Pray Love" the other week and the less said about that the better. I hadn't read the book, which I understand was supposed to be very good, but I found the film exceptionally boring and flat (and far too long). The message also seemed rather muddled to me. Maybe it'll appeal to others though - would be interested to hear what others thought of it.

This is a test post (kind of).

The above link may work for any of our American members who have Netflix.
(which by the way is planning on going international at some point!)

Anyhoo ... this is a wonderful artistic documentry on artist Andy Goldsworthy.
The film captures Goldsworthy at work, reflecting on his work and
how it is interconnected to the movements of water, nature, life and time.

He is truly an enlightened artist.
One so intune with nature and the energies that are within and that surround him.
A must see film, if you appreciate and enjoy fine art born from the artist's spirit!

Thank you for posting this, because it might have taken me years to casually stumble upon Andy Goldsworthy otherwise.
