Windows Defender killed your firewall?
How is that possible?

Hmmmm... Somthing popped up in my mind. Sinces I had problems with the latest iTunes update on Vista i'm not planning to install it again. I have iTunes on my iMac on which I connect my iPod Nano and it works like a charm.
So now i'm looking for another program that's good enough to rip audio cd's in various audio formats and it has to be with a gapless option so that it can copy cd's like Enigma as they are, without pauze between the tracks. What would you recommend?
The PC downloaded an update for WD on the 4th and from that day my firewall cant update without getting stuck.
Did everything I can think off and it's still not working so I'm giving up...
Right now I'm backing up my Steam games folder (60GB) and will be moving on to music (45GB) and pics (30GB) next... Then it's a big (Well over due) Format!
So um yea I wont be around for a day or so while I get this thing back in shape.
Hello ,
Well, to see my computer configuration you can visit this page, i had this configuration from March, this yearas a result of a coincidence when my last year i burn out my motherboard, putting me in the face of big changes.
After i changed my computer configuration to a better one, i started to use Vista as my operating system, but recently i switched back to the old its grand - XP becuase of new GTA IV release... i'm amazed by this game even with his all "bugs"
Here's a screen of my Desktop:
MP3 Player - Samsung YP-T9 with 4 GB
As phones, i had a Nokia 3100, then a Sony Ericsson w200i and in present i'm using a Nokia E51 - a great smartphone ... i'm amazed by its functions
And not in the end, i have also a digital camera: Sony Cybershot DSC-W90

Well, talking about other gadgets and stuff, here's my 20GB Atrac3Plus/MP3 Player from Sony. It's the best i have ever bought and got it in 2005, it still has the same battery that came with it and up to now i didn't have any problems with it. The battery has never been changed and it still works like a charm after 3 years of intensive use.
Have to say it's even better then an iPod.
Well things are starting to look up, format now done and firewall is back updateing now. Happy days I hope.
Now just gotta see how stable this Vista 64 OS dump is and if all goes well we will be back gaming in no time! I mean hard at work in no time...
Get Firefox 3.1 (beta 2)
3.1b2, English (US), Windows (7.1MB)

So far so good.
New toys are:
- Use the new Private Browsing Mode and the updated Clear Recent History function (in the Tools menu) to keep your holiday shopping a secret.
- Tear tabs off the tab bar to create new windows, and drag and drop them from one Firefox window to another.
- Control the Smart Location Bar results with special characters.
- Watch a video in your browser without needing any plugins or external media players.
Cool, downloading it now, just gets better and better
Has anybody used Chrome? what are your thoughts on it? I used it for a week or so but went back to Firefox?
lol... Call me nuts. Since i love the interface of Mac Os X i have pimped my Vista laptop to it with a dock and all.
I never used Chrome though but i am testing Safari for Windows a bit. The only thing they have to change a bit are the fonts and expand some options. Safari already has the "Private Browsing" option in it by the way.
I was wondering why those Apple programs have to be so huge....? I mean FireFox takes up about 24MB of disk space, Safari is about 61,2 MB.

Exact Audio Copy used to be excellent for ripping Cds to wav (you need to download an external encoder such as LAME to get it to rip to MP3 though.
Audiograbber is aslo a widely used one.
I used to use them both a few years ago but am sure what the current versions are like..
Ahaaaaaaaaaaaa...!!!! Me found it. All i had to do in Safari was to set the font smoothing on "Standard". Look much better to me now.
I'm going to bin my old laptop soon. The fan is just as noisy as my wifes hairdryer.
WHOA, I can't wait to 'up-grade' to a new computer...so I can go crazy with all this new computer techy-geeky-talkie-jibber-jabber-gizmo stuff!
I can just see myself now!

I don't know if this will help anyone for sure,
but in case you didn't know, you can "overclock" your PC.
I actually got some software with my last computer that can do this.
The methods range from small tweeking to actually increaseing the voltage
that your motherboard is using.
I got from some comp. artricles that the increasing of your power, well it
just up's the speed it runs.
The only drawback, is that after about 5 years of this, your CPU may start
to produce errors, after thinking it over, personally, I have replaced my computer well before this time alloted,(time to be obsolete)...anyway I have doubled the speed
on my pc's and they are running just fine so far.

There are freeware programs that are not hard to track down, I would
however shop around and make sure you are getting what you want,
There are a few on this site call "general geeks", and I think these guys
are quite up front about the bussiness they do....freeware, shareware site.

You could have posted this in "The Computer Thread" that i started.
Maybe GT or another member of the MW Mod Team could merge this post with the Pc thread.
Merged with Computer thread.
Yep overclocking PC's has been around as long as PC's have themselves!
Right now my CPU, GPU, and RAM are all overclocked and maximized for Gaming performance.
If you didnt do a huge overclock your computer would last just as long as it would have if no clock was done at all. A lot of the time the CPU you have was made for faster performnce but was underclocked before being sold...

This is my first post on this forum running the new PreBeta 6956 of Windows 7…
Conclusions - Short from ME:
Without words, shocked and amazed, guys, i just don't know to tell you but look in this way:
Windows XP = a big step forward for Microsoft
Windows Vista = a backward step for M$ guys
Windows 7 = THE FUTURE, Why?
Because it would be the most perfect OS of all times from Microsoft.
Going to merge this in the Computers thread...
Still Woohoo! Cool! So is it really good or just an upgrade to Vista?
