Rammstein - Sonne
{This video references the fairy tale of Snow White, who "dies" in the story, due to a poisoned apple.
In this case, the "dwarves" think she OD'd on the gold that they've been giving her.}

"Signal To Noise" by Peter Gabriel. 9th track on his CD "Up".
Over and over and over again.....................
"Turn up the signal,
Wipe out the noise.
...
Send out the signal
Deep and Loud."
Growth Through Adversity
Up is absolutely amazing CD.
I remember when it came out all I listened to was "Signal to Noise"
Was on CONSTANT repeat.
Now I gotta go listen to it again.
I was just listening to "More Then This" and "Games Without Frontiers" not too long ago.
One, U2 - Mary J. Blige and Bono
I always adored the original, and this version is such a nice addition or should I say follow up of it...
One
And since now I actually hear they actually want to "drive the past out..." I always thought it was something like "..drive the pasta..." never got that though...
Susan Boyle

Thing about that is, while her voice is 'good' for sure, (needs a little work) she comes across (Set up that way or otherwise) as someone who would has no 'talent', no chance and no hope of making it past the first stage, when she shows everyone she CAN in fact sing, (and do it well) people are shocked and she is over hyped as something better than she really is. Going by peoples reactions to her were that 'picked' when the show was edited afterword, it's just a set up. If she had the 'look' and persona of a singer in the music biz she would be not have been as impressive...
Not trying to take anything away from here here, it's just what people are not seeing that is speaking volumes to me...

Another way of seeing it is as a major lesson for people not judging based on appearance. People took such a superficial view of the woman to begin with and as often happens with these reality contests she was almost set up to fall spectacularly flat on her face, just so everyone could laugh at her. I think everyone was so moved because it totally challenged their expectations and made them wake up a little bit to how superficial they were maybe being...I also think there is a certain quality to her voice (which while maybe not technically the greatest voice ever) that has a very transcendent quality; some people have the rare ability to almost channel a higher kind of energy with their voice and maybe that's what has moved so many people. Thats my 2p worth anyway. I wish her all the very very best

I smell a rat here, I mean the first three or so rows of audience members are the ones who get everyone to boo or cheer the contestant(s) and it looks to me like was set up for them to react they way they did and 'we' were all pulled in too seeing how she looked and how they reacted to her.
We are then shocked when we found out she could sing and low and behold it's all over youtube and everyones talking about it...
Hell it's a really good way of promoting the show eh?

weird synchronicity, someone just this second emailed me that video again
I totally agree that all these shows are very staged. But, if you've ever seen the X Factor or pop Idol or whatever, you'll know it's actually very common for strange/unconventionally attractive looking people to surprise with amazing voices. No big deal. People don't normally react like they do with Susan Boyle. I've never seen such a wave of joy upon a performance. It was lovely to behold.
Her voice clearly has something special that moves people. It's very humbling to watch, and so refreshing when the music industry is basically all about looks and image. This lady displays a natural spontaneous talent thats completely free of ego and 'showiness'. That's why I love it. And I still think that there's a spiritually uplifting, healing quality to her voice.
So whether or not it was staged doesn't really matter IMO (it clearly was!). It's people's reactions that are important. She has moved a great many people (including some people I know who don't otherwise tend to show much heart!!). Now THAT's what's special

Yep I agree! More power to her! I hope this is only the start of something wonderful.

Me too! I'm usually a bit cynical about these TV talent shows and would ordinarily never buy an album by one of their contestants, but I'd make an exception here. A huge talent and a beautiful lady, in spite of whatever first impressions we had
PS. Today I'm listening to 'Odes' by Vangelis and Irene Papas - I love it. Isn't it great when you discover an album you really love and that feeling as you're getting to know all the tracks and sounds. It's a bit similar to Dead Can Dance in style; Vangelis is his usual genius self and Irene Papas has a tremendous voice.

I just adored the last youtube of Susan Boyle, I've seen it earlier, and I must admit her opening of the song is really very well done.. a great first impression of the song there..
But I'm sure, whoever would have sang -that- strong opening in their program, must have had their attention..
........Although I'd wish someone came to "Holland gots talent" acc by keyboards and pc's and just started to play something amazing like the songs below...

I walk alone
Put all your angels on the edge
Keep all the roses, I’m not dead
I left a thorn under your bed
I’m never gone
Go tell the World I’m still around
I didn’t fly, I’m coming down
You are the wind, the only sound
Whisper to my heart
When hope is torn apart
And no one can save you
I walk alone
Every step I take
I walk alone
My winter storm
Holding me awake
It’s never gone
When I walk alone
