NOTE: These are guides only and always get checked out by your GP as well. Many alternative therapies relate to the chakras and that is why we have listed them here. Please see specific therapies and their use in affecting chakra issues.

A Chakra is like a spiral of energy, each one relating to the others. Chakra (pronounced sha-kra) is the Sanskrit word for ' wheel '.

If you can imagine the main chakras / energy centres as a set of cogs/wheels, they are rather like the workings of a clock or an engine; each cog /wheel needs to move smoothly and at a similar speed for the clock / engine to work properly.

Thus good health and well being is achieved by a balance of all these energies (or the smooth running of the cogs/wheels).

These are linked to the major organs of the body and there are seven of them -
Crown chakra located on top of the head
Brow/Third eye chakra located at the brow between the eyes
Throat chakra is located at the throat
Heart chakra located on the chest

when i am in meditation the presence always directs my focus to these energy centers surrounding my being .. when in tune its a beautiful and powerful high ..very humbling and centering ..but does take practice at maintaining like many aspects of it all ..i would reccommend trying to connect atleast once to experience it because they are there in constant operation reguardless to our awareness of them like our physical organs ,the heart beats reguardless to your awareness but when you meditate and when your heart is your central focus you can opearte and concentrate your breathing making it slow or fast therefore affecting your state of calm ,so too is the power of knowing and concentrating on your energy centers ..(just my bit on that :good2)

Yes I agree with you there Rana and also I have done this outside in nature and when you connect your chakras and they connect with the bigger whole...it is amazing!! This is the most connected you will ever feel...like we are all one at the same time.....:)

Believe it or not, but I kinda know a lot about Chakras. Started reading about "them" last year, but to be honest I don't see anything more in that story then artistic potential. Anything more is, well...

Words like Chakras, Energy and Quantum are used today way to much... Oh well, I don't wanna offend anyone, I guess we all do what we enjoy in...

Thanks for those Polly...one word of caution....
If you are not used to dealing with energy work, you need to remember to close down the chakras after opening them. I shall post a little something about this later on (if I haven't already done so earlier on this thread).
