Ive heard about the condom move in Germany and my comments are: ONLY in Germany! LOL. Thought they put to pictures and words what some morbid thinkers already thought.

Today, I watched an elephant for over 20 minutes use his massive trunk to pick up small berries, slosh it in water, and then eat. It was the most amazing thing to see. Solidified my faith in my god-awesome creator (no pun intended), and made me get to think beyond all the problems that have been thrown at me lately.
Sometimes it is the small simple stuff that brings the biggest joys.

Reading about the elephant was nice. I like them quite a bit. Ty for sharing it.

My smile came while playing with my cockatoo, Psy. She's very affectionate and brings great joy as a companion pet. :)

There is a little local frame shop down the street from us ... which I have visited recently because 1. I've been wanting to check it out for months and 2. because I needed mat board for my drawings for the show and I thought it was worth a shot.

The owner of the shop is an older lady, somewhere in her 50's, plump, short-ish, divorced, has 3 daugthers around my age, has had a series of problems, she is an artist herself and her boyfriend is an artist too, etc, ... needless to say she likes to talk - a lot - and has a bit of a tendency to interupt, but she is the shop owner and my elder so I keep my mouth shut, out of respect.

What made me smile was, between all her up-beat chatter and complaining, she paid me compliment ... she said I had 'a good vibe' ... I thought was cool and it brought a smile to my face! :)

The 'good vibe' she was picking up from me ... must be because of all that good wholesome Mysterious Wisdom I am getting in! :girl_yes3 (1):

When it blooms (which will be a while yet) ... I'll take a pic of it for you and post it here! :two hearts:

A few years ago, a neighbor in our town gave me a bunch of plants from her garden ... which I might add she has an impeccable garden and has been tending for 30 years. Spring, Summer, and Autumn her garden is beautiful!

The 'bleeding heart' was one of many lovely plants she gave me. :)

*Hm?* ... maybe I'll swing by and see if she has any more plants she wants to get rid of ... because she can't 'keep' them all, her garden just isn't big enough (like ours), hence the reason she gave me some in the first place.

Putting this story down onto 'paper': a day out of my life... by me!

__________________________________________________________

On the 21st of May 09 at approximately 12:30 pm following a routine supplies drop off to the Kish Lighthouse, we were making our way back to the depot. Suddenly across the radio came a voice asking if any vessels near Dalkey Island please reply. It was the Dublin Coast Guard looking for help in locating a small vessel that had dialed 999 with reported difficulties.

Peadar immediately answered the call and we get advised that a small white vessel has lost its radio communications, is taking on water and has lost the use of an engine. We immediately changed course to head to its last known position; just off Dalkey Island to help in the serch.

Kevin got out the binoculars and started to scan the area. Using the radio, Peadar received updates from the Dublin Coast Guard. We move around to the front of the island to see if the boat had drifted into the rocks around the Mugglins but see nothing.
Still moving south, we passed the island but didn't see anything. Suddenly, an inshore rescue rim passed us by at speed. They are much faster than us so they are able to check some nearby boats quicker to see if they were in trouble. Kevin spotted in the distance, approximately 3 kilometers away, a small vessel matching the description of the troubled boat. We head straight for them and as we approach, Kevin could see through the binoculars that they are who we are looking for. I had my camera with me so I started to take photos as we moved closer to the boat to document the changing events. At this stage, we are almost off the coast of Bray Head, proving quite a distance from their original reported position.

Peadar radioed Dublin Port Radio with the positive ID and current position. We arrive there and discover that the inshore coastguard didn't have a radio so we relayed information back to Dublin Port Radio as needed. The stern of the small vessel was very low in the sea. It was clear they had taken on a large volume of water. We also confirmed that there was only 1 lifejacket on board with 3 crew. Both engines appeared to be dead and their radios didn't work.
One of the crew was taken to shore with a possible arm injury, leaving the 2 remaining crew to continue to bail out water. While under tow by the inshore coast guard, they were taken back to Bray Harbour.

We stayed close by in case there was any further issues and if any other information needed to be relayed through the radio. They managed to make it safely to shore and we headed back to the depot in Dun Laoghaire to tell the tale of our part in rescuing some mariners in need.
A happy ending overall.

Overcomming my mental block and pushing to reach my goal.

I did 40 (actually 41.09 according to my computer) hard miles on my bicycle today. The last third of it was uphill all the way.

I am training for this: http://www.springcity.org/century/index.shtml on September 19.

A 100 mile bike race/ride. It's the marathon of the cycling world. This one seems to be particularly difficult as it winds through the mountains of North Alabama and South Central Tennessee. One spot even has a 2 mile long 12% grade--- uphill. Yikes!!

I bought a Felt F75 roadie with some of my tax refund money in March. I LOVE IT! It's not top-o-the-line, but it beats the heck out of the mountain bike I was using as a road bike all last year. It's a good, solid intermediate/advanced level racing bike. Weighs about 15#. Accelerates like a dream.

http://www.feltracing.com/09-catalog/road/f-series/09-f75.aspx
(Mine's the 2008 model in black)

I completed it with clipless pedals. That took a while to get used to again. (I had a traumatic experience with them when I was in high school. LOL-- trying to impress the girls but fell over on my side when I couldn't get out fast enough and got a pretty nasty goose-egg on my head.)

And I just found out that a 12% grade really isn't all that steep around here. Being originally from the Gulf Coastal Plain, it's just unheard of for me-- I actually climb steeper hills on my daily rides.

If you need a good laugh, try reading through these real children's science exam answers....

Q: Name the four seasons.
A: Salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar.

Q: Explain one of the processes by which water can be made safe to drink.
A: Flirtation makes water safe to drink because it removes large pollutants like grit, sand, dead sheep and canoeists..

Q: How is dew formed?
A: The sun shines down on the leaves and makes them perspire.

Q: How can you delay milk turning sour?(Brilliant, love this!)
A: Keep it in the cow.

Q: What causes the tides in the oceans?
A: The tides are a fight between the Earth and the Moon. All water tends to
flow towards the moon, because there is no water on the moon, and nature
hates a vacuum. I forget where the sun joins in this fight.

Q: What are steroids?
A: Things for keeping carpets still on the stairs.

Q: What happens to your body as you age?
A: When you get old, so do your bowels and you get intercontinental

Q: What happens to a boy when he reaches puberty?
A: He says good-bye to his boyhood and looks forward to his adultery.
(The kid gets an A+ for this answer!)

Q: Name a major disease associated with cigarettes.
A: Premature death.

Q: How are the main parts of the body categorized? (e.g., abdomen)
A: The body is consisted into three parts -- the brainium, the borax and the
abdominal cavity. The brainium contains the brain; the borax contains the
heart and lungs, and the abdominal cavity contains the five bowels A, E, I,
O, and U.

Q: What is the fibula?
A: A small lie.

Q: What does 'varicose' mean? (I do love this one....)
A: Nearby.

Q: Give the meaning of the term 'Caesarian Section.'
A: The Caesarian Section is a district in Rome .

Q: What does the word 'benign' mean?'
A: Benign is what you will be after you be eight.

World's Shortest Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?' The girl said:
'NO!' And the girl lived happily ever-after and went shopping, dancing,
camping, drank martinis, always had a clean house, never had to cook, did
whatever the hell she wanted, never argued, didn't get fat, traveled more,
had many lovers, didn't save money, and had all the hot water to herself.
She went to the theatre, never watched sports, never wore friggin' lacy
lingerie that went up her a**, had high self esteem, never cried or
yelled, felt and looked fabulous in sweat pants and was pleasant all the time.

The End.

however their is a big flaw in her plan, The shop is run by volunteers, mostly old women, retired and just there for a gossip.

So this lady is spouting off about customer service, profit margins, window dressing all the usual retail sales stuff and all the old women are stood there looking at her blankly, then when she finishes and is waiting for a reaction one little old lady steps foward and says, would you like a nice cup of tea dear or a little muffin then they all walk off talking about tea and cakes..:D

Your post made me smile! :)

Because it is exactly the same way I feel about our two cats! Shadow, especially - she literally is my shadow, she's always close by and boy does she make me smile and laugh!

She's the cutest kitty in all of Uncasville.

After I found a job, I sat on the steps in Time's Square taking in the scene of the lights and activities below me thinking "Is this really happening? Am I really here?"

And then I realized, it is happening, and I am there.
And I still cant believe it.

Life is making me smile, finally.

That made me smile Gen, I have a vision of you doing that, Those moments are magic. ;) Congratulations on finding a job, :good2 I would love to visit New York, It sems like one of the most vibrant exiting cities in the world

I had so much fun writing those two characters (especially Letanta - I hasten to add I've known one or two people quite like her!). I even considered giving them their own spin-off series, a zany comedy double act. :)

Jesus and the thief

A burglar breaks into a house and is quietly and expertly collecting valuables in his bag when he hears a voice: “Jesus is watching you.”
Startled he looks around the room but there doesn’t seem to be anyone there, so he carries on stashing the valuables into his bag.
Then he hears the voice again: “Jesus is watching you.”

He looks around the room again, only this time more thoroughly, and he spies a parrot in a cage.

He walks over to the cage and says: “My, my, a talking parrot. Are you Jesus then?”

“No” replies the bird, “I’m Moses.”

The thief is most amused: “What sort of people would call their parrot Moses?” he asks, barely suppressing a laugh.

“The same people that call a Rottweiler Jesus!” replies the parrot.

Goodbye mother

Young Simon was walking around his local supermarket picking up a few items for his evening meal when he noticed an old lady was following him. He tried to ignore her but every direction he went she followed.
Eventually he went to the checkout, but the old lady managed to push in front of him and turned to speak to him.
“I beg your pardon,” she said, “I am very sorry if I have alarmed you by following you around, but you look just like my son who died recently.”

“I am very sorry to hear that,” replied Simon, “that must be very disconcerting for you. Is there anything I can do to help you?”

“Well there is one thing that would cheer me up a bit,” she said. “As I’m leaving, will you call out ‘Goodbye mother’ to me?”
“Of course,” answered Simon and as the old woman was leaving, he called out, “Goodbye mother!”

The girl on the till checked out his items and said “That will be $135.”

Simon was shocked. “How can my bill be £135?” he asked, “I’ve only bought a few things!”

The checkout girl replied, “Your mother said that you would pay for her!”

Math gave me a smile:

Since I have a difficult time sitting in class, I have decided to work on math on my own to see how far I can go with it in the next 30 years; I'm hoping to attain the highest math possible.

Well, today had a problem that almost tricked me into giving a wrong answer: Every once in a while there are certain math problems that make you think that two numbers may cancel out such as:

-20 + 20 = 4

but instead I wasn't paying attention to the signs, and the real answer wasn't a cancellation of numbers:

20 -(-20) or 20 + 20 = 40

Even higher math will regularly throw these in to mess with one's head.

I got one and when I found out that I wasn't paying attention to the signs...not only smiled but had a good laugh.

I know, I'm weird.

I think the point is, the same think can apply to life. Life will make us think one way, when it really is not.

There could be a lot of changes in math, because math tends to progress along with science.
There may be a need for a new math...but If there is, I think it will probably be an add-on to the summa we now have.
A new quantum math dealing with the human mind could be in order...maybe a new type of chaotic math will be contained.
Do you think a deterministic order can be found within the microcosm of chaos? Or will we still be swimming within the sea of probability?

Well - Math is the language (perhaps the basic foundation one) of the Universe ....

This little Math conversation made me smile ... because I am terrible at Math ... but when truly applied ... I kind of 'get it' ... :)
