Thanks for sharing Nathan! Imagine what this lady has lived through and seen...all the things we take for granted.

Wow that's incredible!! And I felt old turning 30!!! But I've got a full 100 years to go before I catch up with her :) I suddenly feel a whole lot younger!

did you know that once you reach a certain plateu (around 90ish), the body actually stops aging? There is physically no reason for us not to be able to live long beyond 100 years and its believed what eventually gets us is the fact that we get to a point where we serve no meaningful purpose in our physical state.

On a side note I had a great aunt who lived to be 117 and the only reason she died when she did was because one of her pigs got loose (in Puerto Rico) and she was hit by a car when she chased it (running!) across the street!

Both my father's parents died "young" (in their late 60's) and my Maternal Grandmother lived to 94, and grandfather died at 101. I believe that after 90 theory that you just don't age!

Imagine the stories we'd tell our great great grandkids!

Jester's statement makes sense.

When the news in my area told the story, they state that she could not get into the Guiness World Records because their wasn't any birth certificate to confirm.

I still think it is amazing, especially if it is correct. It gives us a different look at things. Maybe people will see the benefit of taking care of themselves early to get to that 90's stage...and then it's just living from there...

I'm sure that much of it has to do with genetics and medical advances; and think we may see more people living longer than 110. Although, I also think our times are a bit of a paradox; some things such as diet may have have the opposite effect on many; the Industrial Revolution seems to have given us a double-edged sword.

Regards,

Nathan
