Greets guys,

Hope you all are doing good. Just thought it would be a neat idea to start a thread saying hello in a more personalized manner - I.E - by our voices!

So I thought to go first, say a hello (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=cc62c15152028ed1d9d5c56d04dfa8b0e04e75f6e8ebb871)things to everyone.
If you have a microphone, then feel free to add a few words and say hello.
It should be an interesting....

Hope you lot think so as well.

Oh, and if anyone is curious, here's a few sites to upload your files for free:

Have fun!
Looking forward to hearing everyone!

What a fab idea - it was great hearing you guys, you both have really lovely voices and I loved hearing what you had to say! Somehow it made it seem a lot more personal than just reading words on a screen, although you know how normally you can kind of get a feel for the 'energy' behind the words...but clearly you get a much better feeling of connection with the person by hearing their voice.

I will try and contribute, although I'm not exactly sure which program I need to be using to do that on my macbook...i will have to investigate. If I don't get it figured could use my old pc.

Take cares, and happy St Patrick's day Lorri! :Hbounce

Oh, it's at times like these that I wish I was PC-techy savvy, so I could rig up our archaic system, get it up to speed and hear all your wonderful voices, alas I must wait .... *most likely until we get a new system* ....

Anyway, at least I know what you sound like dear Genesis!!! :girl_yes3 (1):

I started the same thread in the EMB a few years ago so technically you stole my idea. Just for the protocol :D.
Im not home right now and will be only on friday so i'll do it then. Curious to hear what you sound like. Maybe except on Gen's case. We talked so much i cant stand her voice anymore :D.

Polly definately sounds as expressive as she posts; and I am looking forward to hearing another sample if you can get your PC up and running again.

Oh, and as for you, Tzvika - Feelings mutual, bub! :D

Yeah, I probably sound just like you guys imagine....(just wait!)...LOL

I don't have a mike yet...I've been meaning to get one...and I actually had this idea as well since the EMB....but, it doesn't matter...what matters is Gen is the one who stepped up to the plate and actually posted the thread! :thanks: Gen! ;)

I took one of those silly .... "What kind of accent do you have?" .... quizzes on FaceBook awhile back (all thanks to my sister), and the results were something along these lines .... "You have a Western Accent and cannot be pin pointed from any origin." .... also meaning, I have a clear dialect .... nothing at all like where I am from .... I never could quite pick up the 'Pittsburghese' accent ....

Here are some examples ....

1. "Yinz goin' dawntawn!?" Translation: Are you going downtown?

2. "Dat dere cauch." Translation: That there couch.

3. "N' at." Translation: And that.

4. "Urn City" Translation: Iron City Beer.

5. "Warshingtin" Translation: Washington.

6. "Dat dere dem Stillers." Translation: That there them Steelers.

Also check out the official 'Pittsburghese' website for fun .... www.pittsburghese.com :signsHF:

Just a few examples of the very distinct Pittsburgh dialect which I managed to escape .... thank god! :laugh

So, maybe with my next post in here, it'll contain my voice! :gathering: *he-he* ... stay tuned (oh my I hope I don't scare anyone away with my voice)

its along the top of the screen . a tiny little hole. but your better off using your external mic as it won't be picking up the laptop running in the background like the built in one might .

Okay, I kind of figured that little hole had some use ... anyway, Paul and I were messing around with the 'Sound Recorder', he made a test recording, the sound came out pretty decent, he was able to locate the file (whilst I left the room), upon my return he did not tell me or walk me through on how to relocate the sound recorder files ....and it doesn't seem he is willing to help me out ... so, I am on my own once more and I have no clue where to find the sound recorder file .... *hsigh* .... oh well, I am sure I'll find the test file eventually ...

[LATER EDIT] okay ... we figured it out ... so when I have a few minutes to myself ... I'll try and make a nice recording for you folks and 'Hi!' Oh, I do not like the sound of my voice .... maybe I'll hide behind texting and typing forever!!

I finally got around to recording a seasonal greeting! I made the mistake of playing it back to myself and thought I sounded like a rambling stoner :biglaugh.2: But what the heck, it's done!

I've never used mediafire before, let me know if it works or not! :)

Aww that's sweet of you to say! Thanks honey, I'm glad you didn't think I sounded like a stoner haha. I loved listening to you so thought fair was only fair and I ought to return the courtesy :D It's amazing how the moment you realise your voice is being recorded you kind of freeze up and have to struggle for words! :7hit (1): Lots of love to you :two hearts:

Rory, that is a beautiful message! and happy holidays to you as well....actually, I think I will purchase a mike today, as long as I don't forget that is. But, after listening to your message, I don't think I will forget because I will be hearing your voice in my head for the rest of the day!

It was absolutely a pleasure to hear your voice! Not like Polly, I actually never imagined your voice. Actually, most of the time I read you alls posts, I read it with my American/NY accent. So, it is sometimes a shock to hear your real accent...which your accent happens to be ummm seductive! very pleasant, calm, cool like Polly says...oh, you would fit in awesome here in the States.....we would all love you!...but, you would get tired of us always asking you to say this and that...just so we can be tickled by your accent. Well, I guess I am next...but, I have a little confession.....rory, yours is the only one I have listened to thus far. But, now after hearing your greeting, I am actually excited to here everyone else. Sorry guys, yeah, I kind of skipped around in this thread...didn't listen....but, I promise when I have more time to listen. I hope you guys like my greeting....coming soon ;)

Thanks Elizabeth! I've never thought of my accent as seductive, lol! In fact, I used to hate my accent growing up. We moved around a lot when I was a kid and my accent is a weird mixture of different things, and doesn't really 'belong' anywhere. People don't know what to make of it, at times I've been mistaken for being English, Irish or even American. It's funny though, when I was in the States a few years ago, people did seem to LOVE the fact I was Scottish. I got a lot more fuss and attention than the English people I was with!

I can't wait for your voice greeting - it's so cool hearing you guys first hand. It's funny how sometimes we imagine how someone might sound, and often it's very different to their actual voice! Bring it on!! And everyone else, too :Boy_yes3::drink::cool.3:

Okay, so I kind of like the last one....and I am learning that it continues...becuase that was like two recordings put together....well, I did good for my first time trying to figure this thing out right? Next time I will right something....perhaps a poem for my blog "Elizabeth 'Sparks' of Sunshine.....stay tuned....(yall shouldn't have told me about a voice recording..now, yall wont get me to shut up! )....LOL

YAY!!! How awesome to hear you in person Elizabeth!! You sound exactly as I thought you would, totally you - bouncy, fun, joyful and like a ray of sunlight! I've just listened to the first one, my broadband is verrrry slow especially in the evenings (maybe due to the added usage??) so downloads take a long time, but I look forward to hearing the first attempts. My first attempts were promptly deleted, never to be heard again! :)

Thanks again, I love this thread! It's really great to connect with you guys like that. You know what the next step is, don't you? VIDEOS!!! :D

Hey thanks guys, but I really didn't get to the good names...like, I was even going to say you guys names you all used to use on the EMB...and the reason I thought of it, was because, I found myself saying some of the user names out loud...like Django...and just remembering some posts..I believe Jay once said he always thought Django was DJ ango!..hhahaa, so funny!, thats why I thought it was cool...so, Gen did I pronounce TaQueen correct?

In a momentary state, I surrendered to the feelings of uninteresting and unworthy .... so I promptly deleted all of my voice messages from the pc .... hence the reason why you may not be able to hear and or download any of my recordings.

Anyhoo ... it brings a smile to my face at the prospect of any new messages from you guys in the near future ... I simply love hearing them! :) :two hearts:

ps: I may in the future do another recording .... but that will be a looonnngggg time from now.
