Art is a primal instinct.
The creation process of art, has been with mankind since the day we learned to walk. Perhaps, it was once used as our way of communicating before we learned to perfect the ways of communicating with talking and writing?
Art has been ever evolving and adapting through the times. It has been honoured as being the foundation to all societies and cultures across the globe. It has been praised and it has been scrutinized. It will continue to take shape and form, and stand on its own in all cultures and through time.
Whatever your personal flavour is for art .... supporting the arts is like helping to maintain the very foundation of society and what better way of supporting the arts is doing it locally, at the grass roots level! :) And the cool thing is, you don't have to be 'rich' or 'talented' or 'learned' in order to support the arts. Because it comes from an instinct, you know what you like.
There are many ways to support your local arts .... check out ....
1. Local Art Galleries: See what's 'happening and hot' now in the art world! Sign up on a galleries mailing list, attend openings and maybe meet the artist, plus it's makes for a different night out.
2. Art Associations: Another great way to see what's 'happening and hot' now, attend the openings and meet local artists and perhaps bump into some friends!
3. Art Centres: Take an art class of some kind from a local artist.
4. Art Fairs: Walk around, check it out, maybe buy a small piece of art you like and make an artists day!
5. Art Festivals: Usually a big scene of hot happenings with lots of varity to choose from and just enjoy the scene of the enegry.
6. Museums: See it through the ages and learn the history and see what is consider 'hot' today!
Well, being an artist myself, I think its important to help support ones own local art scene .... because it is afterall a primal instinct.
