Since there is a thread for female musicians I thought it was only fair there was one for us menfolk too! When I looked through my ipod I realised that the majority of my favourite artists are actually male...this is mainly because my favourites genres ambient/electronica are almost entirely male-dominated. I also realised that music producers and electronic artists are almost ALWAYS male...I don't know why that is. Anyway, this thread is for the male of the species - singers, songwriters, producers and even bands perhaps.

I thought it only right to start with the guy who single-handedly made me love music and want to create my own, Mr Michael Cretu! Here are two of my favourite pre-Enigma Cretu songs

Hm... Strange... I'm looking at my iPod, but for the first time I'm looking for gender :D :D :D I think its 50 / 50 with me.. Some guys I have there are: George Michael, ATB, The Cure, Coldplay (only few songs, to much emo going on there), Chicane, etc..

Did anyone like new ATB song ? I think it was released few days ago ? It is female vocals, but he is a guy, hm...

Jonsi, lead singer of Sigur Ros has released what is in my view the year's most beautiful and innovative, unique album, "GO"...I love it. 'Tornado' is one of the more reflective moments, and I find it quite moving

Darren Hayes is my favourite male pop star...though best known for his Savage Garden ballads, I prefer his solo work. His latter two solo albums, 'The Tension and the Spark' and 'This Delicate Thing We've Made' are two of the best, most underrated electronic pop albums of all-time, check them out. Awesome talent, and a true hero of mine

Hats off to BT, Brian Transeau, who's released one of the year's most enjoyable albums - 'These Hopeful Machines', an engaging mix of trance, pop, rock and ambient. One of my faves:

I love Josh Groban and this one is probably my favourite. The lyrics really touch my soul...

"In Her Eyes"

She stares through my shadow
She sees something more
Believes there's a light in me
She is sure
And her truth makes me stronger
Does she realize
I awake every morning
With her strength by my side

I am not a hero
I am not an angel
I am just a man
Man who's trying to love her
Unlike any other
In her eyes I am

This world keeps on spinning
Only she stills my heart
She's my inspiration
She's my northern star
I don't count my possession
All I call mine
I will give her completely
To the end of all time

I am not a hero
I am not an angel
I am just a man
Man who's trying to love her
Unlike any other
In her eyes I am

In her eyes I see the sky and all I'll ever need
In her eyes time passes by and she is with me

I am not a hero
I am not an angel
I am just a man
Man who's trying to love her
Unlike any other
In her eyes I am
In her eyes I am

The Four Tops are one of my favorite goups of all time, The original line up was together for 4 decades. I grew up listening to a lot of Motown and Levi Stubbs voice just blew me away, everytime I hear one of their tracks out of the blue (especially the slower ones) it send shivers down my spine. An amazing talent

I'd forgotten how much I loved Banco De Gaia (aka Toby Marks). As much as I enjoy electronic artists such as ATB and Chicane, Marks is in a different world in terms of talent and ambitious, rich, epic compositions. This is just a 4 minute edit of the epic title track from the 'Last Train to Lhasa' album, a true masterpiece which has, like much of Mark's work, a socio-political undertone, commenting on China's treatment of Tibet. Powerful video too.
