Please help to stop the re-legislation of commercial whale hunting. I read a heart-breaking article about it yesterday which I won't re-post as it is just upsetting, but it is absolutely tragic the way these highly intelligent, sentient creatures are brutally hunted and slaughtered.

I read that certain studies have shown that cetaceans have the ability to solve problems and exhibit joy, grief and altruism. As bizarre as it sounds, some experts have even suggested that sperm whales might even rationalise about their place in the religion and suggested they might even have evolved some form of religion. Studies are in their infancy, but these magnificent creatures clearly possess a deep intelligence.

And what do we do? Well, the Japanese are readying to send fleets after them, planning to slaughter hundreds of the creatures on the grounds of 'scientific research', aka eating them.

Please help to spread word about this and stand up for these beautiful creatures. We can't go backward - only forward.

Unbelievable...good heavens when will they get the message!!!

We know they are in danger and that they are very intelligent and that they can't defend themselves...argh!!!

Well and now with the BP spill whose to say that may not effect them as well!!

OK...complained enough...I signed the letters...hope that really helps.

Peace

I just wanted to share the wonderful news that's already been out for a number of weeks, that our protests against a re-legislation of whaling have WORKED!! The ban on commercial whaling STAYS IN PLACE :) It's wonderful to celebrate victories and to know that our compassionate action does work, even when it's just signing petitions and writing emails. Kinda gives you hope for humanity :)

Now, here's another one to sign: protesting the fact BP have been burning endangered sea turtles alive - sign this (http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/campaign.faces?siteId=3&campaign=EndangeredSeaTurtles&ThirdPartyClicks=ETA_070810_EndangeredSeaTurtles_F)

Thanks and thanks :)

forgive me please my dear friend, but I haven't been able to read this thread until now. I knew what effect it would have on me. You know me enough to understand.
I read your post regarding the over turning of the relegislation on whaling. And immediately thought 'YES!'.
And than I saw the issue of the turtles... Tears fill my eyes and my heart.
Issues such as these are painful to realize, but in that pain is a passion strong enough to do what needs to be done. And know that I will do what needs to be done.
Thank you my dear friend for your courage in bringing these important issues to light, so we may all do what is right as the stewards of this planet Earth.
My loving respect to you always dear Rory.

More success!! Just wanted to share: Thanks to a lawsuit filed by The Center for Biological Diversity and Turtle Island Institute -- along with petitions and letters from the public -- BP agreed to stop allowing endangered sea turtles to be burned alive during surface-oil cleanup operations. Over 12,000 signatures were added to the Care2 petitions.

We can and do make a difference, more to share coming...

This is truly good to read.
The fact that it occurred in the first place still causes deep sorrow in my heart.
My burden to carry...

I know exactly how you feel dear friend. It's note easy being a sensitive and witnessing the barbarous behaviour of humankind and what we perpetrate against our animal brothers. But, if I may suggest - you must let go of the burden. Many times I get very upset, to the point where it even makes me ill at times. I learned that I have to acknowledge my pain and sorrow and then let it go and take action if at all possible. The letting go is very important. Carrying a burden of suffering ourselves only adds to the collective pain of the world. I find the Sedona method extremely effective at releasing this pain. Doesn't mean we condone these bad things or sit back, just means we are also taking care of ourselves. I hope that makes sense? :two hearts:

You're so welcome, I hesitated before I spoke, because it's something I still struggle with. Being sensitive is a gift and can also be a curse sometimes, it means we care and can help others, but it also means we can take on so much pain and end up torturing ourselves. I got worked up the other day about a certain issue and when I realised it was creating suffering for me (and those around me I was being short with) I released it and let it go, and went back into that core of peace. It's a big lesson for me. I continue to integrate and learn it. Im glad I could share :)
